RESOLUTION - Honoring Michael Richey on his retirement after 10 years 6 months of dedicated service to the City of Kansas City, Missouri.

WHEREAS, Michael joined the City of Kansas City, Missouri on April 6, 2015, and spent his entire career working in the Water Services Department Stormwater Services as a Geographic Information System (GIS) Analyst; and
WHEREAS, Michael's work in the GIS field enabled him to perform a variety of tasks, including water main replacement projects to keep GIS processes running, stormwater projects, Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) projects, GIS HAZUS program training, created a flood depth grid for the City providing flood depths for buildings based on flooding severity, developed a web-based GIS Flood Barricade Application for use by City departments, fulfilled GIS data requests for multiple customers inside and outside of the City departments, and conducted a Community Rating System (CRS) media campaign for the City; and
WHEREAS, after retirement Michael plans to serve a full-time two-year mission with his wife for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints, spend time with his wife and grandchildren, continue doing genealogy research, learn a new language, learn to play guitar, and travel; and
WHEREAS, November 1, 2025, will mark the last day of Michael's career with the City of Kansas City, Missouri; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby honor Michael Richey on his retirement after 10 years 6 months of dedicated service to the City of Kansas City, Missouri; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Michael Richey in token of the Mayor and Council's respect and high regard and their best wishes for ...
