RESOLUTION - Honoring the life of Elizabeth “Lisa” Lopez-Galvan and victims of the 2024 Valentine’s Day Shooting at Union Station in Kansas City.

WHEREAS, the Kansas City Chiefs won Super Bowl LVIII on February 11, 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada against the San Francisco 49ers; and
WHEREAS, hundreds of thousands of Chiefs fans gathered with family, friends, and strangers alike in downtown Kansas City on February 14, 2024, to celebrate the team’s successful season with a parade and rally; and
WHEREAS, at the conclusion of the rally at Union Station, gun shots shattered the peaceful and joyous celebration; and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth “Lisa” Lopez-Galvan, a beloved member of the Kansas City region as a radio DJ and performer, friend, wife, and mother, tragically lost her life due to the senseless act of violence at the rally; and
WHEREAS, 23 people, including several children between the ages of 6 to 15 years old, suffered injuries due to gunfire at the conclusion of the rally; and
WHEREAS, Kansas Citians and those throughout the country mourn the loss of Elizabeth “Lisa” Lopez-Galvan and express sympathies to the shooting victims as each seeks to recover from their injuries; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby honor the life of Elizabeth “Lisa” Lopez-Galvan and victims of the 2024 Valentine’s Day Shooting at Union Station in Kansas City; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to the Lopez-Galvan family in recognition of Lisa’s life and legacy as a beacon of joy and love for all who knew her.
