RESOLUTION - Recognizing Alberta Harrell-Hudson as a beacon of light in the City of Kansas City community.

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City, recognizes Alberta Harrell-Hudson who for over two decades, poured her heart and soul into her work, dedicating herself to service since March 1999, until her well-deserved retirement in September 2023; and

WHEREAS, Alberta started with the City of Kansas City in the Revenue Department in March 1999 as a Taxpayer Specialist working on the 2nd floor of City Hall. She worked this same position until she retired from the City of Kansas City in September 2023; and

WHEREAS, Alberta's resilience was unmatched, bravely facing breast cancer with unwavering determination, even continuing her duties during chemotherapy and radiation treatments; and

WHEREAS, Alberta's commitment to raising awareness about breast cancer was unparalleled. Despite her own battles, she tirelessly advocated for herself and others, adorning her desk with symbols of hope and strength, refusing to let cancer define her. Her annual survivor parties in October were a testament to her generous spirit, providing comfort, support, and joy to all who attended, she would shower attendees with gifts and treats; and

WHEREAS, Alberta passed away on April 15, 2024, and leaves her husband, Rocky L. Hudson, son, Lamont Antonio Harrell, daughter, Raquel Elizabeth Harrell, Bonus children, Tina Bond and Rocky Bond, Brothers Mack Harrell, Clyde Harrell, and Harvey Harrell, Sisters Helen Bowland, Willa J. Webb, and Celestine D. Perkins including 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and host of other relatives and friends along with the Finance Department to cherish her memory; and

WHEREAS, today, we celebrate Alberta's remarkable life, a legacy of love, courage, and compassion. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the countless live...
