RESOLUTION - Congratulating Jack McGovern on winning the Class 5 Missouri State High School Athletic Association Cross Country Championship and recognizing his historic sophomore season.

WHEREAS, Jack McGovern of Rockhurst High School won the 2025 Class 5 Missouri State High School Cross Country Championship on November 7, 2025, with a time of 14:52, following his win at the Class 5 District 2 Championship on November 1st; and

WHEREAS, his talent was then showcased at the Nike Cross Regionals (NXR) Midwest Regional Championships, where he placed 4th out of 326, qualifying him for Nike Cross Nationals (NXN), where he placed 10th and was the top sophomore finisher - a truly impressive feat; and

WHEREAS, Jack has been nationally recognized for his cross country performances: voted MileSplit's 2025 National Boys XC Performer of the Year and ranked 10th in the nation at the end of the 2025 season by DyeStat; and

WHEREAS, Jack's 2025 performances are making history, with his personal record of 14:44 being the fastest 5k ever run by a Missouri runner on a Missouri course; and

WHEREAS, Jack's achievements have been celebrated by the local community, earning him the title of All Metro Runner of the Year from the Greater Kansas City Cross Country Coaches Association; and

WHEREAS, Jack has demonstrated an exceptional ability to balance his championship athletic performance with high academic performance and leadership roles, earning a 4.1 GPA during his historic sophomore season while also being the sophomore class president for Rockhurst High School's student government; and

WHEREAS, Jack has humbly attributed his success to the structure of the Rockhurst cross-country program and the team's success in previous interviews; NOW, THEREFORE,
