RESOLUTION - Honoring Quincy Hall for winning the gold medal in the Men’s 400 meter run at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

WHEREAS, Quincy Hall won the gold medal for Team USA in the 400 meter run, with a time of 43.40 seconds, the fifth-fastest time recorded in the event’s history; and
WHEREAS, the Olympian was born in the City of Kansas City, and attended Raytown South High School, where he was a MSHSAA State Champion in the 400 meter run, competing in track alongside football and wrestling; and
WHEREAS, Hall went on to run at College of the Sequoias, then to the University of South Carolina, where in 2019 he won the NCAA Outdoor Championship in the 400 meter hurdles, his dominance reflected in the award of first-team All-American honors five times across three indoor and outdoor events; and
WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City is honored to call itself the home of Quincy Hall, and stood proud to witness his historic efforts in the 400 meter run at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, which culminated in gold; and
WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City looks forward to celebrating Quincy Hall for his achievements now and those to come, and offers him the utmost praise and congratulations; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize and celebrate the MSHSAA State Champion, NCAA Champion, and Olympic gold medalist, Quincy Hall; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in Testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to the family of Quincy Hall as a symbol of the Mayor and Council’s congratulations and gratitude for his efforts at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, and for his victory now immortalized in Olympic gold.
