Honoring Betty Brown for a lifetime and legacy of service and leadership.

WHEREAS, Betty Brown, a member of Paradise Missionary Baptist Church and actively involved in the New Era Missionary Baptist District Association in Kansas City, has served in various capacities of leadership and stewardship for decades; and
WHEREAS, Betty was instrumental in the sustainability of the Kansas City Southeast Bar and Restaurant Association, founded in the early 70's and a viable community resource today, offering mentorship to entrepreneurs, business owners and coordinating the scholarship programs; and
WHEREAS, Betty served for many years as a Board member and President of the Greater Kansas City Foundation for Citizens with Disabilities, the "Key Connecter" for Coors/Big Sky Distributors, and President of the Bridge Home for Children
WHEREAS, Betty served as Board Chair of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum was committed dedicated to preserving the history of Negro League baseball in America; and
WHEREAS, Betty represents continuous commitment, dedication and loyalty as the President for the Derrick Thomas/Neil Smith Third and Long Foundation, 21 years after the passing of the founder, Derrick Thomas, to fulfilling the vision and mission of the organization; and
WHEREAS, Betty Brown celebrates 69 years of life and service to others, on the 3rd day of November 2021; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize the contributions of Betty Brown for over 50 years of community service and leadership in Kansas City; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Betty Brown with the appreciation of the Mayor and Council for her continuation of this successful enterprise.
