RESOLUTION - Honoring and recognizing Lana Torczon upon her retirement from the Law Department after more than 32 distinguished years of dedicated service to the City.

WHEREAS, Lana began her career with the City as an Assistant City Attorney in 1994 as a member of the litigation division of the Law Department where she brought multiple cases to trial, including torts and complex contract cases; and

WHEREAS, Lana rose to the level of Senior Associate City Attorney during her 32 years of exceptional public service; and

WHEREAS, Lana has served as one of the Managing Attorneys for the Corporate Legal Services group in the Law Department and has provided excellent legal advice and representation to the Mayor, City Manager, City Council and several City departments including Human Resources, Conventions, and Neighborhoods; and

WHEREAS, for the last several years Lana has provided competent legal counsel to the Parks and Recreation Department and the Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners; and

WHEREAS, Lana's accessibility and responsiveness to the Parks Board and staff has always been appreciated with her working on important projects including negotiating and drafting management and construction project agreements with the Friends of the Zoo, the Starlight Theatre, the Liberty Memorial Association, the City of Fountains Foundation, Friends of the Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Center, and the Kansas City Urban Public Library and the Museum of Kansas City; and

WHEREAS, Lana was also a fixture in the City Employees Golf League where she became part of the women's team to win the league-wide championship; and

WHEREAS, throughout her career Lana has been known for providing proactive legal advice that assisted her clients in accomplishing their goals, and her knowledge, expertise, friendliness and professionalism will be greatly missed by her colleagues and clients; ...
