RESOLUTION - Recognizing National Agriculture Week 2026 and honoring the Farmers and Agricultural Community of the Kansas City Region.

WHEREAS, National Agriculture Week 2026 will be celebrated March 15 through March 21, 2026, recognizing the vital role that agriculture plays in sustaining the nation's economy, food supply, and rural communities; and
WHEREAS, agriculture remains one of Missouri's leading industries, supporting thousands of jobs, family farms, agricultural businesses, food producers, and supply chains that connect rural producers with urban consumers; and
WHEREAS, the Kansas City metropolitan area serves as a historic hub for agricultural commerce, livestock markets, food processing, and transportation; and
WHEREAS, farmers and ranchers across Missouri and the surrounding region work tirelessly to provide safe, reliable, and affordable food while serving as responsible stewards of the land, water, and natural resources; and
WHEREAS, green and yellow are widely recognized as colors symbolizing agriculture and farming communities across the Midwest; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of Kansas City, Missouri wishes to honor the contributions of farmers, ranchers, agricultural workers, and agribusiness professionals during National Agriculture Week 2026; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby recognizes National Agriculture Week, March 15-21, 2026, and expresses its appreciation to the farmers, ranchers, agricultural workers, and agribusinesses; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and Council direct the City Manager to arrange for downtown Kansas City lighting to be illuminated in green and yellow in the week of March 15, 2026, in honor of the region's farmers and in recognition of National Agriculture...
