RESOLUTION - Declaring April 2, 2026, as Brijhana Epperson Day.

WHEREAS, Jhoshua-David Epperson (“ChampZilla)” is now a five-time National Champion, two-time Regional Champion, and two-time State Champion in boxing; and
WHEREAS, the family continues to bring home champions, as his 16-year old sibling Brijhana Epperson (“Boxing-Ballerina” or more recently “tha ONE” ), Against tha Grain’s (“AtG”) most successful athlete to date, has won twenty-one national amateur boxing titles; and
WHEREAS, on December 5-15, 2025, Brijhana competed for the chance to earn a spot on Team USA’s Youth High Performance team; and
WHEREAS, Brijhana entered a two-week training camp from February 15-March 2, 2026, and on March 2 was informed she made the team; and
WHEREAS, on March 4, 2026, the team left to compete in Bangkok, Thailand, where “tha ONE” went 5-0 and brought home GOLD for the USA and a #1 World Ranking in the 57 kg women’s youth division; and
WHEREAS, in seven years of coaching/serving the youth of Kansas City, AtG is proud to say that it has amassed more than 30 National Championships and One International/World Championship, and with Christ has made champions not only in the ring, but outside of it as well; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby declare April 2, 2026, as Brijhana Epperson Day in Kansas City; Missouri.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented Brijhana Epperson with the appreciation of the Mayor and Council for her continued contributions to her sport and the international reputation of Kansas City.
