RESOLUTION - Honoring Fire Chief Ross Grundyson on his retirement after nearly three decades of dedicated service to the Kansas City Fire Department and the residents of Kansas City, Missouri.

WHEREAS, Fire Chief Ross Grundyson began his career with the Kansas City Fire Department in 1996 and devoted nearly three decades to protecting the lives and property of Kansas City residents; and

WHEREAS, throughout a distinguished career, Chief Grundyson served with honor and professionalism, rising through the ranks to hold key leadership roles including Deputy Chief, Assistant Chief, and ultimately Fire Chief; and

WHEREAS, Chief Grundyson demonstrated a steadfast commitment to growth and advancement by leading a significant expansion of the Department's Professional Development programs, strengthening training, leadership development, and organizational readiness. As Chief, he established formal awards, graduation, and promotion ceremonies to recognize exceptional service and reinforce pride and accountability within the Department; and

WHEREAS, under his leadership, the Kansas City Fire Department established the School of Emergency Medicine and advanced innovation through the creation of the Drone and Technologies Division, enhancing clinical excellence, preparedness, operational capability, safety, and service delivery; and

WHEREAS, throughout his tenure, Chief Grundyson advanced accountability, inclusion, fostering a culture of professionalism, trust, respect, and excellence across the Department for all members and residents.

WHEREAS, January 24, 2026, marked the conclusion of Fire Chief Ross Grundyson's exemplary career with the Kansas City, Missouri, Fire Department; NOW, THEREFORE,
