Recognizing the appointment of Richard Sheets as the new Executive Director of the Missouri Municipal League.

WHEREAS, Richard Sheets has been with the Missouri Municipal League for 40 years and has held the positions of Deputy Director, Director of Legislative and Advocacy Affairs and interim Executive Director; and
WHEREAS, Richard Sheets’ instrumental and networking efforts with Missouri Legislators, lawmakers and stakeholders has made a difference in Missouri communities by sharing municipal challenges and providing solutions for Missourians; and
WHEREAS, Richard has an extensive background in urban and regional planning with a degree from Southwest Missouri State University. He then was the Planning Director for Greene County, Missouri and later served on the staff of former Missouri Governor Joseph Teasdale; and
WHEREAS, Richard Sheets’ appointment as Executive Director of the Missouri Municipal League is a well-deserved accolade. His acceptance is proof of his commitment to the Missouri Municipal League, which provides a voice, training, resources and legislative advocacy for the municipalities across the state; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby acknowledges the importance of recognizing Richard Sheets on his appointment as Executive Director of the Missouri Municipal League and commend him for his dedication to the State of Missouri and the citizens of the “Show Me” state; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Richard Sheets, Executive Director of the Missouri Municipal League, as a token of appreciation for his many years of dedicated service to the State of Missouri and best wishes for all the years to come.
