Declaring February 28, 2022, as "Walk Like Ajamu Day" and recognizing the contributions and service of Ajamu Webster to the Kansas City community.

WHEREAS, Ajamu Webster, a respected engineer and admired community leader within the City of Kansas City, has been instrumental in the economic advancement of African Americans, establishing African Centered Education and engineering countless infrastructure projects within the City of Kansas City; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Webster, a founder of Dubois Consultants, Inc., in 1988 and has more than 40 years of structural engineering experience and has worked with integrity and excellence on countless City infrastructure projects; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Webster models an outstanding passion for economic mobility for the Descendants of Enslaved Africans by being a local business owner, promoting business development, and ensuring access to financial capital by serving as the board chair and a founder of the WeDevelopment Credit Union; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Webster's vision and leadership in helping to establish the City-wide Kwanzaa Celebration 40 years ago, African Centered Education and the Simba and Falami Rites of Passage program has, and will continue to, positively impact and improve the lives of the youth and families in Kansas City for generations to come; and

WHEREAS, the Urban Summit and local Civil Rights agencies applauds Ajamu Webster's generosity, spirit of humility, and unflagging dedication to the advancement of African Americans in Kansas City, promoting resiliency, protecting human rights and ensuring a path for Black liberation; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby declare February 28, 2022, as "Walk Like Ajamu Day" for Ajamu Webster's leadership and service to the City of Kansas City; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Counc...
