WHEREAS, the month of March is widely recognized as Procurement Month, the City of Kansas City's General Service Department and the National Procurement Institute are excited to declare the 2nd Wednesday of March as Professional Buyer's Day every year; and

WHEREAS, Professional Buyer's Day recognizes and appreciates the efforts of the person that most quintessentially represents the core activities of our profession, the professional buyer.

WHEREAS, the person on the front lines of the procurement profession, the buyer, bridges the gap between end users and suppliers and serves multiple customer groups with competing goals, all while upholding the values and guiding principles of the profession; and

WHEREAS, the efforts of the people in this critical role are often carried out behind the scenes and this day of recognition provides an opportunity to shine a spotlight on these individuals and increase awareness of the important role procurement professionals carry in the organizations they serve; and

WHEREAS, Professional Buyer's Day has been declared by various cities, counties, and procurement associations for several years, the General Services Department and the National Procurement Institute are proud to join those entities in declaring this day of recognition; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby declare the 2nd Wednesday of March as Professional Buyer's Day in Kansas City; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Darrell Everette, Keely Golden, Cory Burress and Roberto Everidge with the Mayor and Council's appreciation for the dedication and hard work of all buyers in the various organizations of ...
