Authorizing the City Manager to execute a Memorandum of Understanding with the Board of Police Commissioners of Kansas City, Missouri to provide off-street parking to the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department at City parking facilities commonly known as the JE Dunn Garage and Ed Wolf Garage for a term of ten years; and authorizing one additional five-year renewal.

WHEREAS, currently the City has an estimated 800 parking space vacancies in the Ed Wolf Garage on a daily basis; and

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

                                          Section 1. That the City Manager is authorized to execute a Memorandum of Understanding with the Board of Police Commissioners of Kansas City, Missouri to provide off-street parking to the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department at facilities commonly known as the JE Dunn Garage and Ed Wolf Garage for a term of ten years with one additional five-year renewal. A copy of the Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) in substantial form is on file in the City Manager’s Office.

 

Section 2.   That the City Manager shall annually determine the supply and demand of the city owned Ed Wolf Garage.

 

Section 3.    That a condition to this MOU is that if the City stops providing city employees with free parking in the JE Dunn Garage and Ed Wolf Garage then this MOU providing free off street parking to police department civilian employees will be immediately terminated upon thirty (30) days notice from the City to the Board of Police Commissioners of Kansas City, Missouri.
