Accepting the recommendations of the Public Works Standards Committee regarding certain amendments to the Public Works Standards and Design Criteria to be used in the construction of public improvements and the development of land or subdivision plats.

WHEREAS, the City Council created the Public Works Standards Committee pursuant to Section 88-605-04 of the Zoning and Development Code for the purpose of promulgating engineering and construction specifications and standards for proper development of the City; and
WHEREAS, the Water Services Standards Committee solicited and considered public feedback on proposed changes to the Standards and Design Criteria at a public hearing on September 16, 2020; and
WHEREAS, on December 18, 2020, the Water Services Director approved the adoption of certain proposed changes to Section 2600 - Storm Sewers of the Division II Construction and Material Specification Sewers of the Kansas City Metropolitan Chapter of the American Public Works Association; and
WHEREAS, on December 18, 2020, the Public Works Department Standards Committee recommended rescinding Section 2600 - Storm Sewers of the Division II Construction and Material Specification of the Kansas City Metropolitan Chapter of the American Public Works Association to allow use of the Water Services Department adopted version of Section 2600 - Storm Sewers of the Division II Construction and Material Specification for development of the city;
WHEREAS, on September 28, 2022, another stakeholder meeting was held and the recommendation was to take a phased implementation to the proposed changes; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section 1. That the recommendations of the Public Works Standards Committee concerning amendments to the Public Works Standards and Design Criteria are hereby accepted and removes Section 2600 - Storm Sewers of the Division II Construction and Material Specification hereby adopted.
