RESOLUTION - Honoring the Monday Nite Footballers members Dr. Charles Allen, Carl Clark Sr., Emanuel Cleaver II, Ollie Hubbard, Dr. John Martin, Jim Nunnelly, Coach Jerry Price, Harry Sypert, and Ed West; and associate members Big Larry, Sie Silas, Louis Palmer, and Don Williams for 53 years of service to Kansas City and dedication to the Kansas City Chiefs.

WHEREAS, the Monday Nite Footballers began in 1970, at the same time Monday Night Football aired its initial telecast on ABC national television; and

WHEREAS, the Monday Nite Footballers is composed of 10 "octogenarians", all of whom are die-hard Chiefs' fans and have been throughout the entire tenure of the Kansas City Chiefs franchise; and

WHEREAS, throughout the past 53 years, the Monday Nite Footballers have been a major force in issue-shaping and community development, including COVID-19 vaccination efforts; and

WHEREAS, the Monday Nite Footballers have travelled with the Kansas City Chiefs for many years, and were present and a part of the NFL's Hall of Fame ceremonies when the late Buck Buchanan and the late Len Dawson were inducted into the prestigious NFL Hall of Fame; and

WHEREAS, for the past 53 years, the Monday Nite Footballers have chronicled all their conversations and discussions in a weekly column in the Call newspaper, amassing nearly 2,000 articles about the history and development of both the Kansas City Chiefs and the community at-large; and

WHEREAS, the Monday Nite Footballers have recently been involved in many organizations and small businesses, and have worked tirelessly to get the community vaccinated, including contacting well over 2,000 senior citizens; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
