Recognizing the Opening of the Season for the Kansas City Glory Women's Full Contact Football Team on April 1, 2023.

WHEREAS, the Kansas City Glory was founded in 2019 with the goal to become the area's premier opportunity for women in football. Kansas City Glory is a member of the Women's National Football Conference (WNFC), women's full contact, 11v11 tackle football; and

WHEREAS, the Kansas City Glory is committed to empowering women and girls in the Kansas City community through the game of football. They do this by creating an environment where all who play for, cheer for and support the Glory know they are valued, loved and treated like family. The Glory strives to put together a professional, passionate and poised team of women to make big plays on the field and even bigger impacts in the community; and

WHEREAS, the Kansas City Glory is led by many champions in their own right. Owner and Head Coach, KeKe Blackmon, is a USA Gold Medalist, winning multiple year Champion both as a player and coach. President, Sheila Sickau, is a member of 2015-2018 Women's World Football Games and the 2022 Special Teams Player of the Year. General Manager, Krishna Lee, is a USA Gold Medalist, 2x WNFC All-Pro, and 2022 Defensive Player of the Year; and

WHEREAS, Kansas Citians can support the Kansas City Glory by attending a home game to cheer their team on as well as applying to be a game day volunteer, videographer, player, or staff; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

That the Mayor and Council hereby celebrate the opening of the season for the Kansas City Glory in Kansas City, Missouri; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to the team members of the Kanas City Glory with the Mayor and Council's appreciation fo...
