RESOLUTION - Recognizing Elliott and Kathryn Threatt for their continued generosity and community involvement.

WHEREAS, the Threatt family has a long history of public service and community involvement in Kansas City, Missouri; and
WHEREAS, Elliott and Kathryn Threatt have spent 22 years supporting the proud history of our City, including sponsoring events at the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, investing in a safer community by supporting Ad Hoc Against Crime, and generously volunteering time and resources to help our neediest citizens at Hope Faith Homeless Shelter, Community Assistance Council, Thelma’s Kitchen, Veterans Community Project, Synergy, New House Women’s Shelter; REHOPE services for Human Trafficking Victims, and Green Acres Urban Farm; and
WHEREAS, Elliott and Kathryn Threatt have been retail concession partners with Paradies Lagardère at KCI airport for the past two decades; and
WHEREAS, this homegrown local business has expanded nationally to serve other airports and their communities, receiving awards as Jethro Pugh Community Initiative Award from Paradies Lagardère and Business of the Year from the Kansas City Black Chamber of Commerce, And Best Commitment to Diversity and Best Community involvement from the Kansas City Business Journal; and
WHEREAS, Elliott and Kathryn Threatt have mentored and supported countless small and minority-owned businesses; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby recognize Elliott and Kathryn Threatt for their continued generosity and community involvement; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Elliott and Kathryn Threatt with the gratitude of the Mayor and Council for their dedication and many hours of community service.
