RESOLUTION - Recognizing June 22, 2023, as Patrick A. Monroe Day in Kansas City, Missouri.

WHEREAS, Patrick A. Monroe served the Kansas City community as an Eagle Scout and worked on film sets in the sound department, camera department, as a rigger, dolly grip, and as a Key Grip since 2012; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Monroe graduated from Blue Valley Northwest High School in Overland Park, Kansas in 2007 and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Film and Media Studies from Kansas University in 2012; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Monroe had a deep passion for storytelling and appreciated the value of visual mediums of communicating ideas and he believed that the connections through these mediums could serve as bridge between people; and

WHEREAS, this inspired Mr. Monroe to focus his film industry career in pursuit of the industry's positive potential. While his intentions were purehearted, he was confronted with the exploitative nature of the film business and was vocal about the change he wanted to see; and

WHEREAS, he was a huge advocate for running safe sets and valued people before everything else. Mr. Monroe was uninfluenced by money or politics and he avoided the negative behaviors he saw within the film industry; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Monroe had a strong sense of self, while also maintaining an open mind for new ideas that contributed to his viewpoint of the world. This attracted and created many friendships in his life. His convictions and follow- through inspired and compelled others to take action on turning their own dreams into reality; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Monroe was a Kansas Citian who took control of his own path and made commitments for himself; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Monroe's remarkable work ethic, commitment to professionalism and connection with those he encountered, as well as his dedication to the Kansas City Film Industry earned him the r...
