RESOLUTION - Honoring fellow Kansas Citian, Michael Williams, for his time serving as Chairman of the Board of Curators of The University of Missouri System and appreciating the impact the University has on our City and State.

WHEREAS, Michael Williams has served as the Chairman of The University of Missouri System from 2023 to 2024, and has been a champion for our students and for student life by engaging with all stakeholders across our four system schools, including the University of Missouri - Kansas City; and
WHEREAS, the University of Missouri - Kansas City, known as UMKC, has been Kansas City's University for 90 years as the only public research institution, creating new knowledge through discovery and developing game-changing innovations across the research spectrum that benefits not only UMKC students, but the entire Kansas City metro area and beyond has made tremendous strides in becoming an exemplary public urban research university of the 21st Century under the leadership of Curator Williams; and
WHEREAS, UMKC had close to a $600 million economic impact in Missouri in FY2021 according to an economic impact study released last year and there are approximately 56,000 UMKC alumni living and working in the Kansas City metro; and
WHEREAS, recognizing the UMKC Chancellor C. Mauli Agrawal, Ph.D., as an experienced leader, award-winning educator, engineer, researcher & inventor, and appreciating his commitment to Kansas City since June 2018; and
WHEREAS, recognizing the University of Missouri System Board of Curators: Robert D. Blitz, District Two - St. Louis, Julia G.
