RESOLUTION - Honoring LaShawn Walker for her exceptional leadership and unwavering dedication to uplifting women in the community
body
WHEREAS, the Lift Her Up Movement, initiated in 2017 by the visionary LaShawn Walker, Founder & CEO of Suburban Balance, stands as a beacon of inspiration and empowerment; and
WHEREAS, the Lift Her Up Movement has not only celebrated the accomplishments of 150 exceptional women but has also been instrumental in the growth of 300 businesses, providing them with a valuable platform at LHU events to showcase, promote, and launch their endeavors; and
WHEREAS, LaShawn Walker's unwavering commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is demonstrated through her passionate advocacy work, leading to significant changes such as the implementation of an equity policy in the Lee's Summit School District; and
WHEREAS, the Lift Her Up Movement has gone beyond state borders, hosting impactful events in both Missouri and Kansas, drawing the participation of over 1000 women, fostering a spirit of celebration, elevation, nomination, support, and empowerment among women in business and beyond; and
WHEREAS, LaShawn Walker's tireless efforts extend beyond the Lift Her Up Movement, with Suburban Balance's advocacy division actively engaging and educating the community on the importance of voting, resulting in the election of eight parents from the organization into public office; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY
That the Mayor and Council hereby honor LaShawn Walker for her exceptional leadership and unwavering dedication to uplifting women in the community; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Ms. LaShawn Walker with the heartfelt appreciation of the Mayor and Council for her outstanding ...
