Changing the names of certain streets located within the Berkley Riverfront Development; updating the street name plan for the project; and waiving certain requirements of Section 88-605-03 of the City's Zoning and Development Code.

WHEREAS, the Berkley Riverfront Development stands as a vibrant, mixed-use development situated along the picturesque banks of the Missouri River in Kansas City; and
WHEREAS, the Berkley Riverfront Development serves as a dynamic hub for commerce, recreation, and community engagement, offering a diverse array of residential, commercial, and recreational amenities; and
WHEREAS, the development includes the Kansas City Current Stadium (CPKC Stadium), a premier sports and entertainment venue that enhances the cultural fabric of the community and serves as a source of pride for the City; and
WHEREAS, March 16th marks the historic occasion of the Kansas City Current Stadium opening its doors to visitors from across the City, the metropolitan area, the nation, and the world, as the first stadium dedicated to a women’s professional team; and
WHEREAS, the efficient guidance of visitors to and through the Berkley Riverfront Development necessitates an updated street name plan; and
WHEREAS, the cost of signage replacement is expected to be less than $2,000.00 and will be funded by the Kansas City Current by invoice from the Public Works Department; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section 1. The following street names for the Berkley Riverfront Development are changed as follows, all as depicted on the revised street name plan attached as Exhibit A: (a) a portion of E. Riverfront Drive is changed to Kansas City Current Way; (b) Troost Avenue, Forest Avenue, and Lydia Avenue are changed to N. Troost Avenue, N. Forest Avenue, and N. Lydia Avenue; and (c) and a portion of Front Street is changed to Berkley Parkway.
Section 2. That the requirements of Section 88-605-03, Street Naming Committee, of the City's Zoning and Land Development Municipal Code, are hereby waived.
Section 3. The existing traffic regulations on this street will remain in effect and will not be affected by the street name designation.
