Authorizing the Mayor to execute an amended employment agreement with Brian Platt to continue serving as City Manager, and ratifying compensation of the City Manager.

WHEREAS, the Council appointed Brian Platt to serve as the City Manager of the City of Kansas City, Missouri pursuant to Resolution No. 200933; and

 

                     WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council desire to continue employing Brian Platt as City Manager; and

 

                     WHEREAS, Section 218(d) of the Charter provides that:  “[T]he Mayor may fix the compensation of the City Manager, subject to ratification by a vote of at least six additional members of the Council”; and

 

                     WHEREAS, the terms of the “Amended Employment Agreement Between the City of Kansas City, Missouri and Brian Platt” fix that compensation; NOW, THEREFORE,

 

                     BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

                     Section 1.  That the Council hereby ratifies the compensation to be paid to Brian Platt for his service as City Manager as set out in the “Amended Employment Agreement Between the City of Kansas City, Missouri and Brian Platt” as required by Section 218(d) of the City Charter.

 

Section 2.  That the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute an “Amended Employment Agreement Between the City of Kansas City, Missouri and Brian Platt” in substantial form and substance as that on file in the Mayor’s Office.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
