Accepting and approving a $1,176,015.00 grant award amendment with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services that provides funding for the Epidemiology & Laboratory Capacity Enhancing Detection Expansion; estimating and appropriating $1,176,015.00 in the Governmental Grants Fund; and recognizing this ordinance as having an accelerated effective date.

WHEREAS, these funds from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) assist with local COVID-19 activities and response efforts in Kansas City, Missouri; and

WHEREAS, the Department will use these funds to assist with providing or implementing any of the following activities for COVID-19 response: (1) Case Investigation and Contact Tracing; (2) Public Health Surveillance which includes data reporting, analysis and visualization; (3) COVID-19 Testing; (4) Health Education and Information that promotes the reduction of community spread; and (5) Professional Development or activities aimed at building infection prevention/control and outbreak response expertise. NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

Section 1. That a grant award amendment between the City of Kansas City, Missouri, acting through its Director of Health, and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, whereby the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services will provide funding for Epidemiology & Laboratory Capacity Enhancing Detection Expansion, for the period beginning July 1, 2021 through July 31, 2024, for an amount not to exceed $1,176,015.00, for a total award amount not to exceed $3,387,087.00, is hereby accepted and approved. A copy of the grant award agreement, in substantial form, is on file with the Director of Health.

Section 2. That additional revenue in the following account of the Governmental Grants Fund is hereby estimated in the following amount:
