Recognizing January 13-22, 2023 as Greater Kansas City Restaurant Week and the enthusiasm that it has brought to our community.

WHEREAS, Kansas City Restaurant Week started thirteen years ago with the purpose of inspiring adventurous and affordable dinning throughout the metropolitan area. This week serves as an opportunity to enjoy great food while also fighting for a good cause; and
WHEREAS, Kansas City Restaurant Week is a 10 day period where restaurants all around the metro join in offering three different types of specials to ensure affordability, of which 10% of sales are donated to a local charity or community partner selected by Kansas City Restaurant Week. Since their start, Kansas City Restaurant Week has raised over $3.3 million for local charities; and
WHEREAS, each year approximately two hundred and fifty restaurants around Kansas City will join to participate in this event. This week has grown tremendously over the past decade as new restaurants join in every single year; and
WHEREAS, a huge part of our culture in Kansas City is food. Dining has led to so many opportunities for so many different businesses and families all across Kansas City. Our community has benefited so much because of our astounding food culture by bringing together families, friends, and colleagues over something that makes everybody happy; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
That the Mayor and Council hereby display their gratitude to The Kansas City Restaurant Association and Visit KC for working to make Kansas City Restaurant Week possible; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Council in testimony thereof and that a copy hereof be presented to Visit KC and The Kansas City Restaurant Association with the appreciation of the Mayor, Council and citizens of Kansas City for the dedication and community service to Kansas City.
