Authorizing a $799,500.00 general services contract with Environmental Works, Inc., for the Water Treatment Plant Basin Cleaning, Renewal No. 1 project; authorizing four successive one-year renewal options with further City Council approval; Director of Water Services shall report back to council within 45 days regarding its progress in hiring employees; and recognizing this ordinance as having an accelerated effective date.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:
Section 1. That the Director of the Water Services Department is authorized to execute Contract No. 23002-1 in the amount of $799,500.00 with Environmental Works, Inc., for the Water Treatment Plant Basin Cleaning, Renewal No. 1 project; Project No. 60800043. A copy of the contract is on file in the office of the Water Services Department.
Section 2. That the Director of the Water Services Department is authorized to expend up to $799,500.00 from Account No. 24-8010-807773-B-60800043, Water Treatment Facilities, to satisfy the cost of this contract.
Section 3. That the Director of Water Services is hereby authorized to execute four successive one-year renewal options for this contract with additional Council approval with such funds as appropriated by the Council in future annual budgets.
Section 4. That the Director of Water Services shall report back to the Council in 45 days as to the Department’s progress in hiring individuals in order to be able to insource this type of work.
Section 5. That this ordinance, relating to the design, repair, maintenance or construction of a public improvement, is recognized as an ordinance with an accelerated effective date as provided by Section 503(a)(3)(D) of the City Charter and shall take effect in accordance with Section 503, City Charter.
