Reducing appropriations in the Capital Improvements Sales Tax Fund (3090) by $500,000.00 from District 3 Project Holding; appropriating $500,000.00 from the Unappropriated Fund Balance of the Capital Improvements Sales Tax Fund (3090) for construction funding of various needs for the Forest Avenue Sidewalk project in the Wheatley-Provident area; and recognizing this ordinance as having an accelerated effective date.

WHEREAS, the renovation and conversion of the historic former Wheatley-Provident Hospital site at 1826 Forest Avenue in the Hospital Hill neighborhood will preserve and renew a historic building to better serve the current needs of Kansas City residents; and

WHERAS, Wheatley-Provident Hospital will become the new home of BioNexus, BioHub and Match Rite Care, each of which are relocating offices from outside of Kansas City; and

WHEREAS, Wheatley-Provident Hospital will attract 70-100 new onsite jobs ranging from entry level to high skilled and hundreds of additional jobs offsite; and

WHEREAS, the Forest Avenue Sidewalk project has a Capital Improvement Program score of 58 based on approved rating criteria; and

WHEREAS, work to be completed includes sidewalks, curbs and driveway approaches along the west side of Forest Avenue between 18th and 19th and along the north side of 19th Street between Forest Avenue and Troost Avenue; retaining wall along north side of 19th Street between Forest Avenue and Troost Avenue Inlets; alley improvements; and landscaping; NOW, THEREFORE

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

Section 1. That the appropriations in the following account of the Capital Improvements Sales Tax Fund, Fund No. 3090, are hereby reduced by the following amount:

27-3090-128300-B-89009995 D3 Active Project Holding $500,000.00
