Authorizing the allocation of $100,000.00 from Council District 3 PIAC contingency in order to stabilize and preserve the former House of Hits Building structure due to cost increases of materials, insurance and bonding for a total investment of $700,000.00.

WHEREAS, the City owns the former, historic House of Hits building located at 1511 E. 18th Street; and

 

                     WHEREAS, the building is deteriorating and additional, immediate investment is necessary in order to secure and stabilize the remaining structure; and

 

                     WHEREAS, the City has already committed $600,000.00 in order to stabilize the structure; and

 

                     WHEREAS, additional investment is needed due to increased costs associated with this work, NOW, THEREFORE,

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF KANSAS CITY:

 

Section 1. That $100,000.00 of District 3 PIAC contingency is authorized to be allocated to stabilize and preserve the House of Hits Building structure due to cost increases for materials, insurance, and bonding from funds previously appropriated to Account No. 23-3090-128300-B-89009995.

I hereby certify that there is a balance, otherwise unencumbered, to the credit of the appropriation to which the foregoing expenditure is to be charged, and a cash balance, otherwise unencumbered, in the treasury, to the credit of the fund from which payment is to be made, each sufficient to meet the obligation hereby incurred.
